Heitor Alvelos Born in Portugal, subsequently lived in Chicago, U.S.A., currently
based in London. Work gravitates between graphic design, installation work and
the live arts. Performance work and exhibitions since 1983, in Europe and the
U.S.
Three musical projects: Os Senhores (Portugal, 1985 - 87), Litany of Garbage
(Chicago, 1991), Fear (London, 1998 - present).
Recent commissions include live visuals for Biosphere concerts (with Jon Wozencroft)
[Amsterdam/Antwerp, 2000]; sound installation for Escape, exhibition by Lœcia
David [London, 2000]; Contemplating Speed, installation for FUSE98 [San Francisco,
1998].
Large academic
research and lecturing experience since 1989: Porto (Faculdade de Belas Artes,
Escola Superior de Artes e Design), Chicago (School of the Art Institute), London
(Royal College of Art). Curatorship includes Cabaret of Complexity (RCA, London,
2000/01); Reality of Fear (RCA, London, 1998); A Arte do Tempo (FBAUP, Porto,
1996); O Fax Ž a Mensagem (Icograda, Porto, 1995).
Current work in progress with Len Massey, Russell Mills and Jon Wozencroft.
