  info
Touch 00, the 4th in the series of Touch Sampler CDs, features 21 exclusive tracks from artists at the cutting edge of sound. Over the course of 80 minutes - or to be more exact, 79minutes40, the maximum you can fit on one disc with guaranteed mastering quality - Ryoji Ikeda takes you through the intense perceptual field of his latest recording, Matrix, until you emerge, hopefully amazed, having drifted through the crepuscular world of Mika Vainio's soundscapes
Chris Watson records a muezzin call to prayer and contributes two new vocal pieces from a recent assignment in Ethiopia's Bale Mountains. Thomas Brinkmann's Olga appears for the first time on CD, commissioned from his superb series of 12" releases last year on his max-ernst label. Locust and Scala highlight an inventiveness and intensity of spirit hard to find in today's mainstream music. Which Richard H. Kirk rejected some while ago - like his recent LoopStatic CD, here's a track that returns to the political directness of early Cabaret Voltaire

Philip Jeck once again shows his magic with sellotape and automatic return on the Dansette. Top type designer Tobias Frere&endash;Jones mapped a year's weather cycle and turned it into a sonic stream. Biosphere radiates. Daniel Menche and Hazard demonstrate their potential for great things in the future. People Like Us get together with The Jet Black Hair People and Wobbly, and whilst making a sublime racket, remind us not to take the whole thing too seriously
